STR Holdings Stocks Our Alternative Power Store With Specialized Components

STR Holdings, owner of Specialized Technology Resources Inc., is an alternative power store which will soon be stoking the flagging economy with its need for manufacturing of specific technological parts for our alternative power stores. It isn’t a solar power store per se but manufactures the plastic laminates and plastic polymer encapsulates that insulate and protect the materials used in photovoltaic solar panels as semiconductors of the electricity generated. STR hopes to raise $300 million on the New York Stock Exchange, with Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs as underwriters.

The alternative power store already supplies encapsulates to solar module manufacturers such as BP Solar, First Solar, Solarwatt AG, SunPower Corporation, and United Solar Ovonic. The alternative power store says its customers accounted for a cumulative 30 percent of the global market for photovoltaic panels in 2007. Solar power is a field that is constantly changing, with dozens of alternative power stores trying to develop cheaper, more efficient photovoltaic cells. But STR Holdings says that it’s in a strong position to supply components to the industry whichever way the technology develops. Due to the nature of solar panels, it will always be necessary to package and protect photovoltaic panels before installing them in outdoor environments.
