Why is biodiesel energy gaining importance as an alternative source?

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Biodiesel is the fuel that is obtained from natural sources. It burns like ordinary diesel but produces a renewable energy source called biodiesel energy. Biodiesel as a fuel is obtained from natural vegetable oils or animal fats by the process of transesterification. It is a process in which the oils and fats are converted to useful esters and the fatty acids are removed.

There are several reasons why biodiesel energy products are gaining importance as an alternative energy source. It is an environment friendly source of energy that can be easily used in big and heavily polluted cities to reduce pollution and preserve the environment. Biodiesel energy is biodegradable as it breaks down at least five times faster than ordinary diesel. As green renewable energy source it is non toxic as it does not emit either carbon monoxide or sulfur dioxide and reduces cancer risks by almost ninety percent. Biodiesel energy products extend the life of vehicle engines and are also less expensive sources of energy. They can be used in diesel vehicles without making any modifications to the diesel engines. Biodiesel energy products have better lubricity and do not cause wear and tear of the engines. They also give more power to the engines as they ignite faster because of high cetane value. Biodiesel energy products are safe to handle because bio diesel is non- flammable and non- explosive. Any spillage of biodiesel energy products into water does not affect the environment adversely.

Environmentalists praise bio diesel energy as it is renewable energy source that can be used again and again. Vehicles that have diesel engines make use of pure biodiesel fuel or biodiesel in combination with petroleum. Biodiesel energy products have the approbation of being considered as one of the safest and non toxic energy forms that can be utilized as alternative energy resources. The emission of carbon dioxide can be reduced up to 80 percent with the use of biodiesel energy products. This energy is very helpful in reducing the noise pollution because of the high rate of ignition octane. Public transportation as well as fleet vehicles are benefiting by using biodiesel energy products. The fact is that there is a great hike in the prices of oil and this is the main reason that most of the people prefer using biodiesel energy as an alternative energy source.

The present and future generations will reap the benefits of this energy as alternative energy sources as other conventional forms of energy are being exploited and pressurized at an excessive rate. Biodiesel Energy is considered to be green renewable energy as it helps in the preservation of the environment. Biodiesel energy products can be the most helpful in sensitizing the environment as bio diesel energy is harmless and assists in the creation of a green environment. As an alternative energy source, biodiesel energy can be used cost effectively and efficiently for a number of purposes.

Biodiesel Power Products – Advantages & Disadvantages

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Biodiesel energy obtained from biodiesel energy products that can be converted into usable energy forms known as biodiesel power. Biodiesel power resources can be put to several uses. The main use of biodiesel power resources is to supply power to diesel vehicles so that they can run smoothly and efficiently.

There are many advantages of biodiesel power resources. They are clean and non toxic alternative power resources. Biodiesel power is obtained from bio diesel which as a green renewable energy source does not emit harmful substances on burning. Biodiesel power products do not emit greenhouse gases. They are biodegradable. And above all they are renewable energy sources.

A major disadvantage of biodiesel power products is that they are very costly. Because of this it is usually not chosen by consumers as a fuel. The use of biodiesel power resources increases the amount of nitrogen oxide in the air which causes smog. The energy content and concentration of bio diesel is less and therefore biodiesel power products result in power loss in engines of vehicles. As an alternative energy source, bio diesel is not widely available and therefore bio diesel power cannot be easily generated at all places. The hoses of vehicles are made of rubber that can be degraded by use of bio diesel.

But the advantages of biodiesel power products outweigh their disadvantages. With the increasing energy demands, the use of biodiesel power products is becoming more popular as alternative power sources because they are cost effective.

Advantages and Disadvantages of BioDiesel Energy Products

Biodiesel energy is the renewable energy source obtained from bio diesel which is a non petroleum based fuel obtained from either vegetable oil or yellow grease. As alternative energy resources, biodiesel energy products find use in the railways, airlines industry and for heating at domestic sites.

The advantages of using biodiesel energy are many. The main benefit is that as a green renewable energy source, it reduces the carbon monoxide emissions into the environment by almost fifty percent. Vehicles using biodiesel energy work more efficiently and start comparatively faster than vehicles that use conventional energy sources because biodiesel has a property that it ignites quickly. It is a biodegradable energy source and can be generated in any part of the world. Biodiesel is an eco friendly energy source as there are no fuel emissions.

There are some disadvantages also of using this alternative energy source. Bio diesel used as a biodiesel energy product can clog fuel pipes of vehicles at low temperatures and may also deteriorate rubber parts of broilers or furnaces. When bio diesel burns, it leaves behind residue that may clog the pipes at homes. Though biodiesel energy products are eco friendly, they still may emit high amounts of nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere causing degradation of the environment.

Most countries of the world are developing technologies and methods that can be used to explore the full potential of biodiesel energy as an alternative energy source because of the advantages it offers.

Executives at venture-capital backed Greenline Industries Inc., a Larkspur, California, biodiesel energy products production equipment, believe the Obama administration will create a huge demand for biodiesel energy products and other advanced biofuels. The president-elect has said he’ll require that 60 billion gallons of advanced biodiesel energy products are produced by 2030, spurred by tax incentives and government spending. The appointment of former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack as agriculture secretary makes increased demand even more likely, Greenline executives say, because of his commitment to ethanol production in his state.

Greenline, which has 35 employees, declines to offer specific projections but plans to triple its sales staff in the coming weeks. “It’s a reaction to the administration change and to changes we expect as a result of the people [Mr. Obama] has picked — the policies that will be happening and the growth in demand we expect,” says Donn Tice, Greenline’s chief executive. The company’s latest round of venture-capital financing was in March, for $20 million.

In December, Mesilla Valley Transportation signed a deal with Greenline for a 10 million-gallon processing plant, part of a multistage, $25 million project of a company offshoot called Global Alternative Fuels. The election “expedited things,” says Dean Rigg, chief financial officer of the transportation company in Las Cruces, N.M., which started processing biodiesel energy products with Greenline equipment about 2½ years ago. “We’re all betting” that a push toward new biofuels will come quickly from Washington, he says.
