What Are Biodiesel Energy Products?
National Biodiesel Board statistics of 2002 indicate that 8 billion gallons of grease are dumped annually into landfills. Much of this grease is leftover cooking oil. A relatively simple process could convert this waste grease into biodiesel fuel, a potentially rich source of biodiesel energy products.
Biodiesel has received global acclaim for its ability to supply energy without contributing to atmospheric pollutants and greenhouse gas emission. Furthermore the exhaust gases using biodiesel energy products fuel contain 85% less cancer producing agents. Also this rich supply of biodiesel energy products products comes from renewable sources.
The relatively simple process mentioned above of reclaiming biodiesel fuel from discarded grease is called tranestrification. Methoxide is first created by mixing methanol with lye. This in turn is mixed with the cooking oil or grease and the resultant mixture heated to 150°F where the methoxide becomes the catalyst that separates the biodiesel and the grease. The recovery rate is one litre of biodiesel from just over a litre of waste grease.
Biodiesel energy products are being harnessed for driving the transport vehicles of tomorrow including locomotives and aircraft. Experimental buses and locomotives using 100% biodiesel are on the roads and tracks today. A prototype commercial aircraft powered by biodiesel energy products first took to the skies in February of 2008. This was the first small step on the quest for cleaner flying.
Another application of biodiesel energy products products is to generate bioheat in commercial and domestic boilers. A study conducted in the UK concluded that the use of biodiesel energy products could reduce household carbon dioxide emissions by upto 1.5 million tonnes per year.
History of Biodiesel Energy Products
The word ‘biodiesel’ means diesel fuel with no petroleum content. It consists of long chains of alkyl esters i.e. methyl, Ethyl or propyl. Biodiesel is made by the chemical reactions of lipids for example alcohol, vegetable oil and animal fat. It is used alone as well as in blended forms (conventional petro diesel). It is also used in vehicles in original diesel engines.
The biodiesel energy products are made to fling a diesel engine is known diesel fuel. The physical and chemical advances in the biomass processing and conversion have given birth to biodeisel energy. This may not be heard in the commonplaces but must have been heard by the majority of adults of any developed nations. The sources from which biodiesel is obtained are fats and oils which are mixed with methanol (a solution) that consists of sodium hydroxide i.e. lye, which is an enormously caustic substance.
During the 1900th World exposition in Paris an engine was used that worked with the help of peanut oil. It was demonstrated by Rudolf diesel as a biodeisel. Many modern day diesel engines are capable of running on 100% biodeisel energy products whereas the others can work with the help of petro-bio mixtures. This has proved to be great news for the department of energy as the pure form of biodeisel emits 75% of less Carbon-di-oxide than the petro diesel.
There are many sources with the help of which biodeisel energy products can be made. The Product Center of Industrial Agriculture is a part of Nebraska University of Lincoln which is recognized for its nation which is leaded by its home state in the Commercial Slaughter of the Cattle. The burger and steaks products in people’s grocery store and the one billion pounds of tallow produced a year is the yield of this process. Recently, biodiesel energy products developed by IAPC which makes the use of this chiefly unused substance.
Use Biodiesel Energy Products
The main biodeisel energy product is diesel which is a fuel that is used in diesel engines. It does not contain petroleum. It is also called petro diesel. It is made at 200C and 350C of atmospheric pressure by the process of fractional distillation of the crude oil. Biodiesel energy products results in the mixture of chains of carbon that typically consists of carbon atoms of 8–21 per molecule.
Biodeisel energy products are produced from the renewable energy and domestic resources. It does not consist of petroleum but it can be used as a blend and it can be used with petro diesel in order to produce a blend of biodeisel. Biodiesel can also be used in engines that are based on compression-ignition.
There are various benefits of using biodiesel energy products. These benefits are listed as under:
• Biodiesel energy products are extremely simple in use.
• Biodiesel energy products are biodegradable.
• Biodiesel energy products are non-toxic in nature.
• Biodiesel energy products are free of sulphur and other various other aromatics.
In year 2000 there were eighty-eight (88) plants in US that produced biodeisel energy products over 250 million gallons. Nearly 120 to 145 million of oil barrels are used by the military in a single year.
