Biodiesel Energy
As an alternative power source, biodiesel energy needs an initial “biomass” containing carbon to convert into ethanol. Corn-based ethanol production is most prevalent in the United States, but the industry is inefficient with current manufacturing methods in practice, losing up to a third of the carbon in the conversion process. However, there are many novel innovations in various stages of implementation being developed by companies that specialize in alternative power sources.
The company Zeachem claims it is the most efficient by combining two processes together that avoid any carbon being lost. The first step is to convert the sugars of biomass into a chemical intermediate called acetic acid. By utilizing the intermediate step, there’s no carbon dioxide produced in the process, which limits greenhouse emissions being produced as a byproduct and makes the conversion process more environmentally friendly. It then takes the lignen left in the biomass, and uses a vaporization process to covert it into hydrogen. This is combined with the acetic acid, and then converted into ethanol. Furthermore, wood chips or other non-food sources of biomass can be used to produce biodiesel energy.
Caitlin is a biodiesel company based in Iowa that also uses a more efficient method, which avoids some of the toxic processes used by other biodiesel energy companies that require substantial cleanup and increase the ecological impact of the conversion process. It has raised $3 million in a first round of funding, led by venture firm Mohr Davidow. The company biodiesel energy is building a pilot production facility and works with a broad range of feedstocks, including soybean oil and rendered animal fats. It uses a nano-technology method that essentially functions as a sieve, allowing undesirable products to be kept in the sieve without being washed out in the cleaning process, which wastes water.
Uses of Biodiesel Energy
Biodiesel energy has been into use for many years. This fuel is also considered to be friendly to the environment. Many road surveys as well as trials also have been conducted and the conclusion is that this fuel can be used at an equivalent torque and also horsepower which an average or ordinary petrol diesel uses. Moreover, engines in which petrol or diesel is used wear out quickly. By using Biodiesel fuel the life of the engine increases and it lasts longer. The reason behind this is that by using this fuel lubricity levels becomes less. There is not one but many reason which compels one into using biodiesel as a great source of energy.
The advantages of using Biodiesel energy are many. It is environment friendly, cost efficient and even one can basically create in one’s own backyard. Today even on internet has started to promote use of biodiesel energy. On internet one may find as to where this fuel is sold and is available locally. Even one may search on internet as to how this fuel can be made on own. One just requires patience and should stick to the instructions provided. Even the ingredient or constituents are available and can be locally be found. Biodiesel Energy is among sources of energy which is affordable and is clean. It can be basically be used for all types of vehicles for example buses, cars and even heavy vehicles. One can say it is one of the best ways to say money. The money saved can be spent on children or buying some useful thing for family.
Biodiesel as the name suggests it is equivalent to diesel and is derived from the sources which are biological for example vegetable oil. Biodiesel can also be used as a heating energy not only in commercial boilers but also in domestic boilers. It can be made from naturally available and renewable sources which can be refined such as animal fats, algae, vegetable oils or recycle hotel or restaurant greases. The other advantage is that is very safe to transport and handle and it has the biodegradability is just that of the table sugar, is less toxic then plain salt. It also has high flashpoint. Flashpoint means the temperature at which it catches fire. Biodiesel fuel catches fire at 300 degree Fahrenheit which is higher then the regular diesel.
Numbers of gas stations have started to use biodiesel energy. This is cheap and environment friendly so consumers are using it. The number of people using this fuel has started to increase. Other benefit is that the biodiesel energy is lower engine wear. Although any sought of change in internal engine is not require, there are some biodiesel energy companies who have started to manufacture vehicle with engines specially designed for biodiesel. When compared to regular diesel it is also considered to be the better solvent. When first used this fuel eradicates deposits from the fuel lines which clogs or blocks the fuel injectors. Biodiesel energy can also be used in blended form. The blended forms are also affordable. Only if the engine has rubber fuel lines certain changes or modifications are required.
