Renewable Solar Energy
Making use of renewable Solar energy involves using solar panels to trap and convert the sun’s rays. When they first came out, the prohibitive cost of the panels meant that not many establishments, leave alone individual home owners, could afford it. In recent times though, there’s been a concerted effort by renewable Solar Energy Companies and the government to make this source of alternative energy available to the common man.
A brand new incentive to get homes solar powered is now coming from a new source in Palo Alto, California. The Addison Avenue Federal Credit Union announced today (25th March, 2009), that it’s launching a low-interest loan targeted at home owners planning on investing in the installation of solar panels.
This US based credit union -- named after the garage in which Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard began the company known today as HP-- until recently only serviced the employees of Hewlett-Packard. Its independence means that more than just the HP employees can take advantage of this unique offer. In addition to the loan itself, a special promotion is being run whereby customers signing up for the renewable solar energy loan are automatically entered to win a Solio portable solar charger which can charge ipods, iphones, cell phones etc.
The passing of the Economic Stabilization law on 3rd October, 2009 further adds to this good news. The law extended the solar investment tax credit period by eight years and also raised the $2000 cap that applied to residential owners. Effective 1st January, 2009, home owners investing in renewable solar energy can avail 30% tax credit.
Renewable solar energy overview
We all need energy to do work. The humans derive it from the food they eat whereas the machines get it from petrol, diesel or electricity. Petrol and diesel once used can not be used again and again so they are non renewable sources of energy. Thus once we will end up using all our oil reserves then we will have nothing left to use. It is for this purpose that we have now started using renewable solar energy. These are those energy sources which can be used again and again without the tension of getting exhausted. The best examples are renewable solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, hydel energy, biomass etc
Features of renewable solar energy sources:
The various features of renewable solar energy are as follows:
1) They are available in abundance.
2) They are available free of cost.
3) Renewable solar energy will never get depleted.
4) They do not emit any hazardous pollutants in the environment.
5) The maintenance cost is very less
6) Once installed we can reap their benefits over a long period of time.
What is Renewable solar Energy?
Harnessing of sun’s rays to produce electricity is known as renewable solar energy. The earth receives a lot of heat and light from the sun everyday which can be successfully used to produce electricity. The photons from the sun are cconverted into dc by the help of silicon wafers. Afterwards renewable solar energy is converted into 120 volts and connected to the power system of the house to get the solar electricity,
Advantages of renewable solar energy over the conventional electricity system
Solar energy is better than electrical conventional systems because of the following reasons:
1) Reliability: The earth will continue to receive renewable solar energy under all circumstances. At no point of time we shall stop receiving it. After every night the sun will shine so as long as the sun is shining we can make use of it.
2) Clean: The sun emits these rays because of the internal chemical processes so no harmful chemicals are emitted in the environment. It is for this purpose that the renewable solar energy is virtually clean.
3) Easy maintenance: After installation of solar system one can forget about the maintenance costs as it is almost nothing and it also does not require any maintenance as well.
4) Cost: The only major cost that has to be incurred is for installation and after that only annual maintenance costs are incurred. So after you have installed it there is no huge expenditure involved after that.
So we can conclude that using renewable solar energy in your homes can drastically save us from shooting electricity bills and also save the environment as well. So take proper care while installing it like seeking guidance of professionals and the geographical viability of the place. Setting up your renewable solar energy system in a place where the sun is a dormant factor will be useless. Hence make careful observations and enjoy using renewable solar energy.
