Solar Renewable Energy
Solar gadgets are one of the most efficient ways of producing electricity in your home using renewable energy.
Things are changing rapidly in today’s world. The government is supporting greener houses that use solar renewable energy. Recent research shows that with government tax refunds and other state exemptions most solar equipments have a payback period of just two years or less.
Now some researchers are trying to pull the price down even lower by using unconventional materials to build solar renewable energy cells that are plentiful and cost much lesser than silicon and other semiconductors.
Out of the 23 hopeful semi-conducting materials examined, 12 were found to be abundant enough to probably exceed world energy demands. Out of these 12 materials, 9 are considerably cheaper compared to conventional crystalline silicon.
The team of researchers also compared these 12 new materials with other traditional solar renewable energy cell materials like iron pyrite, copper sulfide and copper oxide. Here they found that iron pyrite provides far greater benefits in terms of cost and abundance than any other material tested.
The team is also experimenting with nanotechnology to come up with better options. They believe that if they are able to use nanoscale science to make a breakthrough it will help them save significantly on the costs.
What is Solar Renewable Energy?
Solar energy can be defined as the heat and radiant light coming from the sun which is being used by the humans since primitive times using a variety of ever sprouting technologies. Renewable energy includes hydroelectricity, solar radiations, wave and wind power, and biomass with other resources of secondary solar energy. By the means of heat engines solar renewable energy provides electricity generation.
The sun is very powerful. The sun provides solar renewable energy through a method known as nuclear fusion. Life is sustained on earth because of this process. Solar energy is being used since millions and billions years of man’s existence. In the primitive times man used solar energy to lit fire.
The sun is a valuable and renewable source of energy. In one day the sun radiates enough energy to cope up with any nation’s requirements for 1 ½ years. As it is a clean and environment friendly renewable source of energy therefore it plays a very important role in sustaining life on earth.
Uses of Solar Renewable Energy
The rays of sun spread all over the world and not in a single place. The history of the use of solar renewable energy lies back in the 1980’s. In United States the solar water heating systems were first used in 1980. These solar water heaters require a storage tank and a storage collector. The solar energy collectors which are of flat plate are placed on the rooftops. These collectors pump the water which is carried by the pipes. The color of the tubes is black with the effect of which it gets hot quickly. With the collection of heat with the fluid inside the tube also gets heated. The hot liquid is held by the storage tank. Solar renewable energy cuts the cost of fuel with the help of central heating.
Solar heaters gained popularity when the coal and burning wood were oppressive and the natural gas was expensive. Solar energy heaters lost their popularity when the oil deposits and natural gas were discovered in large quantity. Now as the fossil fuels are depleting day by day solar renewable energy is efficiently replacing them.
Solar energy is also used in the form of light energy. The equipment of photovoltaic which is commonly known as PV converts the solar renewable energy into the electric currents by using solar cells. These currents can be used in two ways i.e. either it can be utilized instantaneously or they can be stored and can be used later. These photovoltaic cells beneath a slender portion of glass contain part of silicon. They contain both negative and positive charge. The calculators which work with the solar renewable energy are commonly used today. These calculators contain PV cells. The solar panels mounted on the rooftops are also an example of the photovoltaic cells.
Solar renewable energy has become very popular these days because of its low maintenance and cost efficiency. It is expected that millions and billions of households will be using solar renewable energy in the coming years. It is eco friendly and renewable source of energy which makes it more efficient and demanding.
